Abnet Alemu

Dr. Abnet Alemu is board-certified in General Surgery. She has specialized in acute for surgery for the majority of her career. Dr. Alemu originally emigrated, individually, from Ethiopia to the United States at age 16.  Through self-driven perseverance, she eventually attended and graduated from The University of Minnesota School of Medicine. She subsequently completed her internship and residency in General Surgery at The Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan in December 2010. Relocating to California in 2011, Dr. Alemu joined Bay Area Surgical Specialists. She is ardent in providing high-quality, compassionate care to all of her patients. Dr. Alemu, residing in Berkeley, enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 young daughters in her free time. She is an avid reader of science fiction novels and enjoys a good laugh to help balance the intensity of the demanding career she so passionately embraces.
