Dr. Michael Krosin is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in complex orthopaedic fractures, post-traumatic problems such as infection, malunion and nonunion, injuries and deformities of the foot and ankle, knee and hip arthritis, total hip and knee replacements, and revision of total hip and knee replacements.
Dr. Krosin received his BA in philosophy from Princeton University in 1997. Afterwards, he spent several years working and traveling upon realizing medicine and patient care was his calling. He graduated Medical School from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City in 2004, recognizing his passion for surgical treatment of the musculoskeletal system in all its manifestations. He completed residency at the San Francisco Orthopedic Residency in 2009 followed by his Trauma Fellowship in 2010 at the prestigious high-volume Ortho Indy Trauma Fellowship in Indianapolis.
Dr. Krosin has spent the last 10 years serving the community at Highland Hospital/Alameda Health Systems and continues to treat critically injured patients there. In addition, he helps oversee resident training and continues to be very active in education and quality control. Having treated some of the most complex injuries and conditions in the bay area, he, along with his orthopedic colleague Swapnil Shah, MD, have opened an office in Castro Valley to offer the highest quality personalized Trauma and Musculoskeletal care possible. With a focus on the most modern techniques and a customized approach for each individual, Dr. Krosin's goal is to create a plan to return you to function and activity. In addition to his local practice, Dr. Krosin is involved nationally in teaching and trauma care and is very active internationally in traumatic reconstruction for the underserved and developing trauma systems abroad.
Having a traumatic injury or dealing with musculoskeletal pain can be a very challenging road. Dr. Krosin is here to walk this road with you and get you to the finish line. His philosophy is that every patient and every injury is different. Being able to listen to patients and understand both their needs and goals is his foremost priority. Helping manage the challenges of healing and partnering with his patients, he takes great pride in delivering the highest level of care and recognizes that sometimes the solution to a problem is not always surgical. With that in mind, his 15 years of surgical experience as a lead traumatologist and joint replacement surgeon at a level 1 trauma center has provided him with a breadth of experience with very complex problems. Dr. Krosin is here to make sure you understand all of your treatment options and have a realistic and optimistic understanding of your path and treatment plan.
