Ronald B. Wasserman

I am fortunate to have landed in Contra Costa County in 1992 after finishing my Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases Subspecialty in the UCLA Health System. I joined an outstanding mentor and together we developed into a team of 8 physicians dedicated to all aspects of Infectious Diseases management. We provide inpatient ID expertise as well as the only robust outpatient infectious diseases program that is not academically based or Kaiser-based in San Francisco Bay Area. We pioneered the concept of Antibiotic Stewardship with a formalized program within the John Muir Health System that has been in effect since 2010.

We joined BASS Medical Group in 2015. Over the past 3 decades, I have published in peer-reviewed journals in fields of Viral Hepatitis, Infection Prevention, Quality Management, and Anti-infectives. I have enjoyed roles as Infection Prevention Director at John Muir Medical Center and President of East Bay Infectious Diseases Society. On a national and statewide level, I have worked on the Clinical Affairs Committee of Infectious Diseases Society of America and served on the Board Member of Infectious Diseases Association of California.

I presently am co-managing partner for the Infectious Diseases Division of BASS Medical Group and preside on the Board of Directors for BASS Medical Group. I am blessed to have a wonderful family of 2 grown daughters, a son-in-law and a wife all with academic pursuits. I enjoy whatever type of daily physical activity that time, my joints and COVID-19 allow. Other than Infectious Diseases, I consider myself an amateur at everything else but especially enjoy a well written book on geology.
